3 Things You Need to Know about Healthcare in Henderson
When you're thinking about the wonderful life you're about to have in your new Henderson apartment, the last thing you want to think about is getting sick or injured. Luckily, if something goes wrong -- from a common cold, to broken bones, to surgery -- you won't have to leave town.
Here are 3 things you need to know about the healthcare you can get in Henderson:
1. There's only one hospital -- but it's a good one
Methodist Hospital sits on the northeast side of Henderson, but you'll see buildings labeled "Methodist" all over town. That's because the hospital has separate facilities dedicated to surgical services, home care, orthopedic services, hospital equipment, and comprehensive care.
The main hospital is home to a 17-bed emergency room, so even if the worst happens, you won't have to travel far. It's also home to a number of free support groups, so if you or someone you love is dealing with tough medical issues, you'll be able to sit down and talk with people in the same situation.
Methodist Hospital also runs a separate cancer center, which is accredited by the Commission of Cancer. That means they have access to state-of-the-art technology, from detection to remission.
Even though there's only one hospital in town, you'll be happy to learn that Methodist Hospital is rated highly by both its patients and its employees. (The 1,300 employees at the hospital make it one of Henderson's biggest employers.) The hospital opened in 1946, so that's a long history of satisfaction!
2. There's another option
HealthFirst Community Health Center was created to provide preventative and primary medical care to people who don't have insurance, are underinsured, or simply don't have the money to pay for expensive medical bills. The center operates on a sliding fee schedule, so if you're only able to pay a small amount, you'll only be billed a small amount.
HealthFirst specializes in everything from prenatal care, to mental health, to pediatrics, to dermatology, to x-rays, and more. You'll find the facility just north of Audubon Heights.
3. There are specialized care services if you need them
Henderson is home to a few companies that specialize in home care, while others specialize in senior care. Additionally, there are also specialists around town who can provide dialysis, mental health treatments, chiropractic treatments, and more. As a result, you won't have to worry about driving to Evansville just because you need a more specialized form of treatment.
