Dining in Henderson -- Tips Your Taste Buds Will Love

If you think you have to drive over to Evansville for a great meal, think again! Your apartment in Henderson will be close to all kinds of awesome eats.

As a general rule, the closer you get to the Ohio River, the more popular restaurants you'll find. Here are our tips for getting the best of the local flavor:

1. Harness the power of Henderson's barbecue

Just because the Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival only happens once a year doesn't mean you can't get awesome barbecue on any of the other 364 days. Downtown Henderson is chock full of great barbecue -- from perfectly seasoned barbecued chicken, to tangy sauce, to mouth-watering pulled pork, to beans and potato salad made from scratch.

Best of all, the barbecue restaurants in Henderson are a good deal. You can actually get a pile of food for less than $10! And if you can't decide between all of the delectable options, snag a sampler plate and dive into a little bit of everything.

2. Go global on date night

If you're headed out of your Henderson apartment for a special evening, you and your sweetie will have plenty of options to choose from -- no matter what you're craving!

Head to Commonwealth Kitchen & Bar for creative dishes like lamb lollipops, flank steak and candied brussel sprouts, chicken and waffles, and fried green tomato burgers. Don't forget to pair your meal with one of their specialty craft cocktails.

Want more international flair? Tokyo Teppanyaki has sushi and hibachi that the locals love. You can even sit at the sushi bar and watch their chefs work.

Or, head south of the border at Tacoholics Cantina. The patio is a great place to sit on a mild summer evening, and the food and margaritas are tasty any time of year.

3. Start your day with a great breakfast

It's the most important meal of the day, and there is a variety of yummy breakfast choices scattered around Henderson.

The locals pack into Planters Café & Coffee Bar on Saturday mornings, but no matter which day you go, try the scones. And as their name suggests, they've got a variety of lattes, espresso, and other creative coffee drinks that your taste buds will love.

If your sweet tooth needs an early-morning fix, head to Donut Bank. They've got an irresistible selection of donuts, pastries, and coffees that'll make getting up early totally worth it.

If you're looking for breakfast names you recognize, you'll be happy to learn that Henderson is also home to Cracker Barrel, Shoney's, and Denny's.
