Shopping in Owensboro -- You'll Love the Variety!
When you rent an Owensboro apartment, you don't have to worry about traveling far to do your errands or to spend a fun day shopping. This city may not be as big as Evansville, but it definitely has enough stores to please even the biggest shopaholic!
If you're thinking of renting an apartment in Owensboro, there are a few things you need to remember:
- You'll find all of your favorite big stores here
Just south of the Route 60-Route 431 interchange is the Towne Square Mall. Inside, you'll find three department stores -- including Macy's and JC Penney -- and dozens of specialty stores. That means you can shop till you drop without leaving the Owensboro city limits!
Within a few blocks of the mall, you'll find a variety of other big stores -- including Target, Sam's, Walmart Supercenter, Lowe's, Best Buy, PetSmart, and Office Depot. So, no matter which "regular" errands you need to run, you won't have to travel far to do them.
On the other side of Route 60, you'll find a Big Lots and a Dollar General.
- The closer you get to the river, the trendier the shopping gets
If you'd rather spend your time browsing in small boutiques and one-of-a-kind shops -- as opposed to a traditional mall like Towne Square -- head towards the Ohio River. Downtown Owensboro sits right on the river, and it's home to unique clothing stores, small antique shops, local jewelers, and small art galleries. Most of these shops are closed on Sundays, so plan your shopping trips accordingly!
- You can literally buy the local flavor
At the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market, you'll get to choose from a wide selection of locally-grown produce, baked goods, and meats. Or, if you'd rather pick your own fruit, head to Reid's Orchard, where you can get as many strawberries, blackberries, peaches, apples, and tomatoes as you want!
If you want to mix local flavor with fun, head to Trunnel's Farm Market. Not only does this market offer local produce and plants year-round, it's also home to lots of family-fun activities in the Fall.
- There are plenty of oldies but goodies to choose from
Downtown Owensboro is home to a number of antique shops, but one of the biggest in town is Audubon Antiques on W. Parrish Avenue.
If consignment shopping is more your style, you'll be happy to know that there are plenty of stores that offer women's men's, and children's clothing around town. There are even specialty consignment stores that offer everything from formal gowns, to infant clothing, to furniture.
